Youth registered in the Black and Latino Achievers (Achievers) Program and parent chaperones are invited to "takeover" the Branford Marsalis jazz concert on January 27 at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall. The dress rehearsal (CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER) will be held two days before from 6:00 p.m. - 6:45 p.m. The Achievers Club is a leadership, career readiness, and college preparation program for youth. It provides youth with the ability to set and achieve high educational and professional goals; receive support from mentors; gain exposure to diverse career options; and develop life skills needed to become successful in college and beyond. Achievers will also explore core civic readiness elements of our Youth and Government club. This includes researching, drafting and respectfully debating issues that impact them and their community. Youth who participate will have access to their local YMCA, participate in career exploration field trips, tour colleges and work with caring and supportive mentors. This club will all be provided at no cost to parents as we work to register as many students who are interested by the end of December; younger siblings may also be registered for the club.
